Dan became a Red Crosser when he joined the American Red Cross International Service Department in 2013 as a GIS intern. His first experience with disaster response was before SIMS really existed making maps remotely after typhoon Haiyan swept across the Philippines and then deploying as a later round FACT IM. He stuck with the Red Cross and now manages the Data Tech team at American RC, supporting engagement with various open source project communities including ODK, OpenStreetMap, OpenDroneMap, and more! He loves all things data collection and geo.
